At hardware, office supply, and do-it-yourself stores, you can get special plastic conduits for running wires across the floor. They are slightly arched (kind of like speed-bumps in parking lots) and can be secured to the floor with double-sided tape or small nails or screws. They are also available in all sorts of colors and sizes, and are strong enough that you can step on them. Finally, they snap open along their entire length so that you can easily replace the wires inside, which is handy if you're an audiophile and like to play the cable-of-the-month game. ;-)PS. I have no idea how they might affect the sound, though.
