Re: Need your suggestions on what power cords to audition

I've recently tried out several different DIY recipe's, including a braided Romex, and found the Belden 17604 produced the smoothest and most controlled sound. No, I didn't test anything over $100 (I find that a ridiculous price, let alone $500 + cables). Best of all it's about $11 from Newark Electronics.

My situation is a bit different than most, though. I was looking to make SHORT mains cables to use inside a cabinet, so I would have to cut anything I bought down to a 2ft. length aqnd attach a good 3 prong plug (Home Depot $6). Cutting a $500 cable would make anyone cry, so I didn't even consider it.

I was very surprised at the results using the Belden though. You may want to give it a try before you spend big bucks. It's 14 guage and shielded.

Enjoy,
Bob
