I used biwired 8TC for years between my then-amps (Conrad Johnson Premier 12s) and then-speakers (ProAc Response 3s). Kept hearing about Mapleshade Golden Helix and gave it a try. Pierre Sprey persuaded me NOT to biwire (tho it obviously cost him money to do so). This experience (the Mapleshades sounded better in every way) started me on a path to try increasingly INexpensive wire to see if I could match or better what I was using. Just for the hell of it, not to save money. So I'm currently using Home Depot outdoor extension cord (the so-called "HD-14" reviewed last year in The Absolute Sound) between my 845-based SET monoblocks and Gallo Reference 3s. In direct comparisons in a friend's system, this cheap wire rather dramaticaly outpointed some $1200 speaker cable. My own system has never sounded better.
Works for me. May (or may not) work for you. And you can always cover the garish orange/black Home Depot stuff with Techflex.
