Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

RE: Never use I repeat never use thicker than 22AWG!

A single 22 AWG solid core conductor per polarity used as speaker wire is utterly insufficient.

The notion of avoiding skin effect issues by choosing a maximum of 22 AWG for solid core speaker wire applies to a cable design that features multiple individual wires positioned within a bundle in order to increase the aggregate/effective gauge of the speaker cable for optimized current transfer. This is why the litz wire method is often implemented for audiophile speaker cable designs.

See link below to the 'Combined Wire Gauge Calculator':

For example: If you want to create a 12 gauge conductor from multiple 22 gauge wires, first select 22 gauge from the 'Wire Gauge' list, then select 12 gauge from the 'Effective Gauge' list; the required number of wires is 10.
