I find it fascinating that people's perception of something like a cable can be so radically different - and Crump and I agree on a lot of other things. In my house, Valhalla is a perfect transmitter. I would agree that there is a leanness to SPM and Quattro Fil but it is nothing as prominent as its detractors claim. It is lean relative to fat, wooly, warm, and snuggly cables. Just as a Naim CDS2 is lean relative to a Sonic Frontiers SFD2-II or BAT BDK5 or whatever it's name is. Valhalla, in my house, is big, open, dynamic, smooth, and entirely natural. It is a pure window. So either some of us are nuts or it's synergy. I'll vote for the latter, since I've heard some pretty wild and erratic changes in my own system when I changed wires and components around a bit. If you want to know what Valhalla sounds like in your system, try it out. For what it costs, you'd be a fool not to. And then you can either join the bruhaha about how it's great or sucks; or you can just sit there in private and know what you know.
