Jason, thanks for your informative post. I await my Emperor, but I have no experience with the Siltech LS-180, so I can only trust that I made the right decision to buy the Emperor.I also appreciate your comparison between the Compass Lake and the Forbes Lake. I have a 1 m. Compass Lake which handily beat all comers so far. I certainly agree that it is dynamic and lifelike, but would add that is presents a very realistic soundstage and is quite quiet. It is more forward than my Valhalla interconnects.
As I need a 4 meter run between my preamp and amps and cannot afford Compass Lake there, I am trying the infamous HMS cables. I am trying a 1 m. pair and last evening began the comparison with the Siltech. All I will say right now is that they sound quite different. I still have to experiment with the impedance matching box and let the cables settle in. At least I hear neither the dullness or hard edge that I have heard in other top cables.
