I have never liked anything with ferrite beads on it, so it came as a surprise to me that on the Gen. 5, the sound is exceptional. I know this really does not answer your question, but it is a further example of why I would like to know why Gen. 5 sounds so good. It probably does account for why it is so quiet. It may be that the ferrous material in the jackets is quite low.
