RE: Why ever use copper wires instead of silver?

Hi J,

Fair enough. Keep in mind though that often the messanger gets blamed wrongly. I looked at your system and I am picking the B&K as the culprit even thought they have the rep of being warm. Not sure they can really drive the mags. Have you tried a different amp like the mccormacks or Odysseys or pass?

But maybe your system profile isnt up to date since it lists The sound is very warm, beautiful sounding. as a system strength. Or is that after all your work?

I guess I find it hard to make big statements like mags are bright and copper hides details when there are enough counter examples.

And I remember back when I had first got my mags. They did seem bright but it turned out that there was some bright electronics ahead of them and that I was clueless on vibration control of components and that took the edge off too, especially when I treated my cdp.

ALso the last time I had any kind of bright balance was right before I installed the magwire as speaker cables. If you look on the asylum for posts from Rooski I think you will see that he had a similar experience. If you have any kind of short runs say 8ft or lower, try some 24g magwire and see. I am betting you will have detail even though it is copper.
