I could not agree more...though my experience was a bit more severe.In my system, which is close to Dave's in make-up: Piega P10, Gamut Power Amp, Herron Pre, Burmester DAC/Transport and Valhallas throughout - The HMS slowed things down, constricted the sound stage and added lushness and warmth...almost muddy compared to the openess of the Valhalla.
