First, thanks Calloway for the report about how the HMS and Valhalla seem sonically similar. Having owned Valhalla in the past, the HMS seems a good bargain, as long as it "fits" within you system and sonic preferences.Next, thanks again hifiaddict for mentioning that CABLES ARE SYSTEM DEPENDANT. This is something highly overlooked at this site. Without doubt, some Valhalla owners will be in disbelief that this less expensive cable is the sonic equivalent. A suggestion to Valhalla owners - try the HMS and compare. It's free evaluation time!
Another issue that I agree with hifiaddict, I have used Valhalla in the past and have found other cables that worked better within MY SYSTEM and MY PREFERENCES. In the past some have "reveiwed" the cables that I prefer, yet they didn't properly set them up, nor were they even tightened down. (The guy even went as far as to leave the cable coiled up in a tight roll. Hmm, how do you make an inductor ...)
My system:
Tube Research Labs GT100 Mono Block amplifiers
Tube Research Labs GTP Line Pre
Tube Research Labs Phono
JM Lab Utopia, Mini Utopias, Quads, early Soundlabs, various proto-types
Modified Scully 270, playing back master dubs
Mapelnoll Airiadne Signature, various Benz, Clearaudio, and vdH
Inexpensive digital (Pioneer 434 with modified ART Di/O)
Oh, and FIM Gold Cables throughout
