Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

You may want to try this....

Since i do not know you speaker cables i woul;d not know if the DIY cables would be better or not. But making the CC89259 takes about 2 hours and 32 feet of 89259, Just to try it out i would not even bother with connectors, just tape one together and listen to it, you will get enough of a clue to see if you want to build a permanent one. The Cat5 is a lot more work. If you want to max out on DIY cost jump on a Silver foil buy bandwagon.

On the other hand i know you can make improvements by replaciing your ICs either with JR 89259/1695a twists or CVH silver. I use a mixture of them in my system and they outperform the straight 89259 by a wide margin. Of course you will need good connectors, try the locking ones they are easier to mate with big fat cables. You may want to use silver between the pre and the power and copper between the CDP and pre. I think the JR twists are a bit more relaxed than the silver ICs i made. Some CDPs benefit from that.

;-D

P.S.
This is just one man's opinion, and as such it is very comparable to unmentionable orfices....everybody has got to have one :-)
