Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

Heres An Alternative

If it were me I would consider ordering the Chris VH power cable kit for the amp. The price is right, and his choices of parts are sound. Goiod value for the money there. Along those lines an interconnect kit from him would be a good choice to. Once again value for the money.

This leaves a good majority of your budget open for speaker wire. One wire to consider is the Zu Cables offerings. Their least expensive cable is The Guage. 6 meter pair is $129. Also the next step up is the Julian at $339. They offer a 30 day trial. Friuend of mine uses their midline stuff and has good results in his system. All in all it looks like an interesting company.

Another Cable I really enjoyed was from Chord Electronics. Its a composite of silver and copper, but doesn't have that unmusical sound that many of these copper/silver comboinations have. The Oddessey II is a cable I have liked ever since I first heard it. And it sounds good in a variety of amp/speaker combos. Don't know if it will fit in your price range though. I believe a place called Arizona Hi Fi is a dealer for them.

It's too bad you have such a long run of speaker wire, because it makes the really good stuff very expensive. Just for kicks you ought to try the Home Depot electrical cord wire, while you sort through other cables. I have talked to a couple of people who use this as their main wire, and are quite happy. Never heard it myself, but its cheap and always a good back up.
