Using a pair of Electra Print 300DRD amps in my system. They came without power cords, so I was forced to hook up a pair of misc Beldens. When I talked to Electra Print, they are of the belief that power cords are snake oil. Jack feels that the power supply and power transformers filtering capabilities are all that are needed. And looking at it from a common sense point of view I would tend to agree. However I ahve had some experiences with power cords, and feel they do make a nice improvement. The question is what guage cord can I use. The reason I ask is that HCM Audio has a closeout on some Audio Magic Spellcaster II power cord, at a very reasonable price. And since this is somewhat of a budget system, price is a factor. And I have had previous experience with an inexpensive Audio Magic X Stream power cord, and it was an excellent sounding piece. The X stream was the original version...and 16 gauge. And the Spellcaster II is also 16 gauge. From what I remember I used the X Stream on a cd player and a pre amp, but not a power amp. So the question is will the 16 gauge Spellcaster II carry enough current for the amp? They are monoblocks, so they really should only have 1/2 the power draw of a stereo amp. Also I am driving a pair of Cain and Cain Abby speakers, which are an easy load on the amp, and do not draw alot of current for bass. They are based on Fostex fullrange drivers. I would be running the speaker full range, and am going to aufment the bass with an Audio Pro subwoofer.
