It looks like we found another small error in the manual.
I just left the upper terminal of 12 unsoldered until I got the other resistor and the cap in place then you can solder all of them at once.
I suppose you could lightly solder the first resistor in there, but the main thing is to not plug up the hole with solder because other parts still need to go in there.
