Reading through the posts I found someone who mentioned a typo in the manual reflecting my problem.
I decided to hook them up to some junk speakers in the garage and they worked!

Just got them going on the main system and everything seems ok.

Doc, do you suppose you could at least put a note in the kits outlining these typos until you get the CD ROM updated? I've spend the whole day all pissed off trying to figure out what I did wrong.
