I'm about ready to do it, build some Paramount's and maybe a Foreplay. Problem is that's going to require some different speakers.
I haven't heard much in the way of high efficiency speakers except for my friend's C&C Super Abby's, and some K-Horns.
As an experiment/temporary speaker, I'm looking at a used pair of Madisound BK-16 but I don't think that will satisfy long term.
Why? Well, from what I've heard, and maybe I'm wrong, the high efficiency single driver speakers don't go so deep in the bass and don't play particularly loud. Sometimes you need to play big classical pieces or crank up the rock n roll, and I don't want to be stuck with a speaker that can't deliver.
That points me in the direction of something Klipsch I think? K-Horn would be awesome but the Wife said no to those already. Cornwalls seem like a good choice, haven't heard a pair since high school but seem to recall liking them. Having trouble finding a pair that can be shipped or is close enough to pick up. Had too many shrill ear bleeding experiences with the Heresy while in the service, so those are probably out.
So I need some suggestions for a good, full range speaker that can rock when called upon. Budget is less than $1500 and must have a decent WAF, so giant horns that look like they were stolen from a football stadium definitely are out.
System is in the end of an "L" shaped room, with the speakers on the long wall, I sit in the near-field with my back against the wall (in more ways than one :-))
