I'm trying out the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Pro canal phones right now.
They sound great with portable gear (iPod shuffle), and from my computer. But, I bought them to use with the big home system, (Bottlehead SEX amp, Cary 303/200).
Sennheiser 650's (300 ohm) and Grado HF-1 (32 ohm) sound great on this system, but the SuperFi 5 (21 ohms) sounds dull with a honk in the midrange when used with the SEX amp.
I'm suspecting that the SEX amp does not like the low, 21 ohm impedance of these phones, am I right?
Can someone point me to plans to make an impedance matching device or some other solution to make these headphones get along with the SEX amp?
