I have been using 45's in my paramours for some time now and I must say they work beautifully.
After 25 or so years of experimenting with headphone amplifiers nothing even comes close to the sound of the 45. I'll never look back. My paramours are re-packaged into a stereo setup using a 12au7 in place of the 12at7 to reduce gain more appropriate for driving headphones. The power supply adds a 10 henry choke, an added 1.5k resistor and an extra 47uF cap. The cathode resistor for the 45 I think is about 1515 ohms with the hum balance pot in series. I'm using the cheesy shunt resistor method of impedance matching. This mod is highly recommended if you have very efficient speakers. As always YMMY.
