Re: how does Soro SE compare to Signature Kit 1 300B

The Kit1 and Preamp Kit combo is better than the Soro SE (IMO of course). The comparisons were made in my system with all components the same, and using AN=J/Spe speakers, AN-L cable and AN-V I/C's.

My Kit1 is the current kit with some upgrades but not as many as the Signature, and the Preamp Kit was the version previous to the current PQ version, again with some upgrades but not to the Signature level.

In short, the Kit1/Preamp Kit:
- more resolution across the spectrum, especially in the midrange
- more extended highs
- conveys harmonics to a greater extent, better attack/decay of notes

The Soro SE had more powerful lows, however not as resolute as the Kit1/Preamp Kit lows. The Soro is more laid back. Both amps are euphonic.

One could assume that the PQ Signature versions of the Kit1/Preamp Kit would be that much better.

Your cables (way better than mine) are more than adequate to demonstrate the differences of the amps in question, and are much better than the wire used in either amp, i.e. no cable upgrades needed.

Caveats:
- the performance of all amps depends on the quality and personality of the tubes used
- preference for one amp over the other may be a question of personal taste

Therefore to be on the safe side you may want to try the kits in your system, if you can possibly find a kit owner in your area, because after all is said and done you may prefer the Soro SE.
