I would think that the hotter the tube, the more it would benefit from finned cooling. Before using the Coolers, I got about 1200 hrs before sonic degradation in the MUCH hotter 6C33 output tubes in my VK75SE. Since using Coolers, they're out over 2100 hrs now and still sounding fine. Just hate to see you abandon a great preamp for the wrong reasons....Good luck,
