I have a VK5i with 6922s & Tube Coolers, in a rack with the preamp cover removed from the chassis at all times. I find that operation with the chassis cover off is of great benefit in cooling, and also makes short work to identify the occassional noisy tube that crops up over years of use. The Coolers have significantly stretched the interval between retubing & help as well with microphonics. You could also try the Mapleshade brass versions. I can't imagine investing in expensive NOS tubes without Coolers to prolong their life.Dave
