Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |

I just purchaed a pair of AES SixPacs. They have a set of just barely broken in EL-34 tubes.
They go into an Aragon 24k sp preamp.
I am getting next to nothing as far as power. I have to turn the pre up to 12o'clock to get any sort of listenable volume.
I have another pair of small EL-34 based mono's with 1 EL-34 and 1 12AX7 that blow away the SixPacs so far. (In volume, but not detail)
Something is wrong.
I have the bias set at 225 on each SixPac. I have the feedback switch at "0" and am using the "8 ohm" switch into a pair of Silverline Grandeurs.
Why am I not getting anything out of the SixPacs at 50 wpc compared to the other at 8wpc? With the setup for each being identical, I am at a loss.
Thanks
Jobman
