Sherlock is right. The '52 Sylvania 6SN7GT is a great tube in the SLP-98. Another very nice tube is the Sylvania 6SN7W tall bottle and the short bottles are nice too. I have found that a pair of Raytheon VT-231s in the rear sockets makes whatever you use in the front sockets sound better. With the Raytheons in the rear sockets, you can tune the tone of your system by whatever you use in the front sockets.
