I have the JA-88D and used to own the 88C - and the 88C comes waaaaay too close for my liking. The 88D is better, but not 4 times better....the difference is incremental and not earth shattering.The JA-88C is best suited to smaller standmounts, however.....it doesn't sound quite as good on big floorstanders. This is where the 88D pulls ahead. For a small 2-way speaker I don't think you can do much better than the 88C at any price.
