Re: Tube preamps I've tried

It's pretty amazing that the little Bent unit stood it's ground or even bettered those heavyweights you've had. In comparison to your gear, mine is more like diet food. The Bent definitely has my interest, although I think in my system the overall gain would be too low. Especially considering that my phono playback already seems to be falling somewhat short with the AN 300B SE. Looks like I'll have to go with a phono/linestage preamp, probably Brian's signature kit. As an aside, that Bent MC step-up may be just the thing for me too, if it's performance is anything like your passive pre.

It seems that you've achieved excellent synergy with your combination. Probably the result of just the right amount of gain, good impedance matching and well designed components all the way around. And yes, let us know what you think once you get the chance to hear a higher level all-AN system.
