I have a V12R that was upgraded from an "i". The "i" ain't bad, but does not compare favorably with the "R". The R sounds much fuller with much better micro and regular dynamics. The "R" also seems like it has twice the power. The "i" circuit also used in the original Rocket 88 amp makes for a sweet amp, but lacking dynamics and balls. I went through amps like popcorn for about two years, owning the original BelCanto 200.2 and the EVo2, and the Rocket 88. I went to the V12i and was semi happy until Cary came out with the "R" and Dennis talked me into converting it. I have no interest in upgrading it except for the 211M.
