Paul,I'd be interested in knowing more about which tube preamps you tried. Seeing that you have some Audio Note gear, my question is: was one of the preamps you tried an Audio Note?
I'm mulling over which way to go on a preamp for my AN kit 1. I hear you about the Bent unit in regards to sound purity but I wonder if there would be a lack of dynamics with the kit 1 300B being single-tube/single-ended, which obviously isn't a problem for you with the extra gain in your power amp.
