You got me scared! I called Cary this morning. 2002 is not being replaced with a balanced SLP-98, but a second generation 2002 that will sound more like a 98,and with added features. I think they are going to make it easier to integrate into an HT. Most people that are used to the Cary sound don't like the 2002 since it is a 12AU7/6922 tubed pre. It sounds more like a BAT or ARC pre.
The new pre will be out in three or four months and will be much more expensive than a 2002.
