TI says they are electrically identical to the ua741 - a first gen design from the 60s!
The trick is that you cannot simply drop in modern designs with wider bandwidth products as they might ring without adding compensation caps. And that is a quad chip - most today are singles or duals.
There are, however, adapters available for using a pair of duals.
