RE: I'm not wasting time and funds

Feanor I live in one of the hotbeds of Audio, Hong Kong. Generally, I don't spend too much time with entry-level or mid-level speakers like the F228Be - when I audition Revel it is the Ultima Salon 2. They bring their big boys to Hong Kong because people on average make the big bucks. Benchmark is here I have heard them but not specifically with Revel - but I have heard with other "Stereophile approved good measuring" speakers.

One should at least be able to go out and listen to the "technology" no one is saying you have to listen to what I own because if what I own had never existed then I would own something else.

I don't prejudge the designs - albeit I have gathered up a correlational view when a particular design continually annoys me then it's human nature to pre-judge the next similar design that comes down the pipe. But it's still based on some actual listening.

The problem here is you are creating a kind of false equivalency where Richard MUST hear a specific Revel speaker with a specific SS amplifier and specific DAC. That's a bit different than saying listen to ONE reputable SET amp from ANYONE once in your life with speaker that is appropriate for said amplifier.

Amplifiers fall into various design camps - SS Class A/B where you should be able to point to a dozen amplifiers in that design camp that would measure as having low enough distortion that no human could detect. Thus, you should be able to list more than one amplifier.

The SET doesn't have to be an Audio Note - it could be Silbatone, Line Magnetic, Cayin, Wavac, NAT, Kronzilla, This Western Electric, Melody Valve Audio, --- Something.

I don't think my ask is massively onerous - dozens of speaker brands can be driven off of 8 watts SET amps and dozens of SET amplifier brands are available - and even in Canada in pretty much every major city in Canada!

I have heard the Revel Salon 2 in at least three locations and I have auditioned Benchmark on several occasions.

It is quite fun to listen to D'Agostino flagship amps on Vivid Audio Giya speakers - walk down a flight of stairs and audition Wilson Audios with top of the Line ARC amplifiers - walk down a flight of stairs and audition a near top MBL system.

Part of the fun of this audio community is sharing the experience. I mean try it so you can then detail how much you hate it - but at least try it.
