Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

RE: Sure

Guess its just my frame of reference, opamps, I think 50 cents or less, many around a dime. There are some 0 drift etc., you pay more for, based on the specs, these are more than worth it.

I'm a tube junkie, I've heard some great solid state equipment, but I prefer the tube signature. A lot of it may be how much I listen, seems if I'm awake, I'm listening.

I believe their design philosophy makes a lot of sense, whittle down the sources of distortion. There are some great hermetically sealed mercury whetted relays used in ATE. No comparison to pots, rotary switches etc., and they don't degrade. I would imagine a lot of manufacturers are going this way.
