Oh, I'm sure there are circumstances, but San Jose is NOT Henderson. Long term outlook is pretty good, and my girls need the inheritance (or the low rent if they get into Stanford or Cal).
There's hope for water, 3 inches of rain forecast here for tomorrow. Drop in the bucket I know. Water is going to be a real problem, and the start of the "civil war" between farmers and urban populations. Sorry, but growing almonds and pistachios, as much as I love them, makes no sense here. And rice, in Sacramento? Or cotton in Bakersfield.
I'm a bit more bullish than you, but I do tell my girls to find somewhere else to live if they want to do more than work to pay the rent or mortgage, and gas (or electric juice) in their cars. No place for young people who want a nice life, and not have to share it with 4 others in a 2 Bd condo. So, unless they get into Stanford or Cal they are going OFF to explore the country.
Oh, I'm a ways off from SS, and I quit my job long ago to take care of my girls, which continues even though they're young teens now. Nobody but me to get the youngest to the rink at 5:30 a.m. and then to school, and then back to the rink after school. The job never ends.
