OK, I get that analogy. My car has a D "drive mode" and an S "sport mode" In D it goes very fast, in S it goes very, very fast. S is also much more responsive to acceleration up and down.I'd bet there are other amp specs that have to do with power response and delivery, I don't know what those are.
p.s. My almost driving age daughter will never know about S mode.
