RE: Cary SLI-80 Owners re: main AC fuse accessibility

Incredible that Cary designed a unit that can blow an inaccessible fuse when a rectifier tube or a power tube goes out. Absolutely amazing.

Thanks for the response. I only have a pdf copy of an obviously newer owners manual and it appears that Cary later redesigned this amp to allow access to the AC fuse in newer units with the exact same name and model number.

There's no slot on/in the IEC that would allow access to a fuse from external to the amp. The IEC is fully internal to the amp chassis and the connection wiring is very tight, therefore not allowing any manipulation of the IEC itself.

EDIT: There is a drawer in the IEC that is accessible from the amp's exterior. This allows easy replacement of the AC fuse (3A slow blow 250v 5mm-20mm). It is difficult to see in lessthan excellent lighting and the tab/slot used for opening it is impossible to open with a finger. You'll think it doesn't open.

Thanks to fellow inmates for my education on this!
