My Cary SLI-80 died mid-song. No tube pops, speaker pops, just went off. Will not power on. Am I correct in thinking that it's likely the AC fuse because both sides went out simultaneously?
The manual troubleshooting says the AC fuse blows due to an over-voltage condition or a rectifier tube has shorted. It's being fed from a Shunyata Hydra. Wouldn't that protect against a mains line AC overvoltage?
Also, the rectifier tubes are NOS and have been installed for years. Same with the Genelex (new) KT88 power tubes.
If I replace the power fuse, should I replace the rectifier tubes at the same time or just buy several fuses and blow each one until I find the specific problem?
