RE: how to separate output transistors from heat sink?

Sometimes it is suction, try sliding the transistors slightly, that usually helps.

Just curious why are you doing this, are you swapping out the board? Usually your best bet to finding an intermittent problem is with it assembled and on. Intermitents are temperature or vibration, and sometimes with thermal expansion, there is very little difference. Touching with a non conductive tool or cold spray are good ways of locating the cause of the problem.
