A good 80 watt AB amp any day unless you're talking about 100dB efficiency. The 8 watt class A will sound really good as long as it isn't a low efficiency speaker. It will be smooth but the dynamics will be compressed especially if the speaker is also highly reactive where the amp won't be able to put its full 8 watts into the speaker. Besides a relatively rich AB amp will stay in class A most of the time and will only go into class B where the extra power is needed. An 85dB speaker only needs 1 watt class A close up to produce 85 db which is very loud.
