I can tell you differences I perceived from the SP20:
*Much larger soundstage due to better channel separation. That was a failing of the older design likely because it was developed before digital sources were prominent.
*Greatly improved dynamic response especially at the PP end of the scale. With good recordings, it spends more time "down there".
*More of a sense of "authority" and ease.
Tonal balance of both is pretty neutral to these ears.
