Yep, it is out of the system until I can be sure I won't damage the DeCapos. I have a secondary speaker pair (Cambridge Audio S30) and I will be using those for testing after any fix attempts.
What input source were you using? Schiit Modi3 DAC
What amp are you using? Cuurently in the system is a QUAD 909. 140WPC which is near the max that Ref3A suggests for the DeCapos.
OTLs? One of my other amps - and a long time favorite especially with the DeCapos - is a Transcendent Sound T8-LN 25wpc OTL tube amp. I recently replace some caps in that guy along with 8 NOS (supposedly) power tubes. Sounds magnificent although has not quite the bass power the QUAD provides.
Luckily I soent my last 25 workng years as a relatively high paying computer programmer. So my SSI at this point is close to the max, which is a relief since the ex is in the process of taking 1/2 the savings and IRA.
But it's definitely worth it to get rid of her :)
