I could just put the T8-LN in by itself and pull the HSU sub out of storage to augment the bottom end. Done that before and it sounds grand. I leave the DeCapos full range and just add a bit of bass under 60hz. Integrates beautifully...
But in the summer here in Vegas, no way I am running that tube amp all day- IIRC we had close to 12 weeks straight of 100+ days last summer. And I like to keep the system on all day. So that is a real consideration.
Of course same problem in the summer if I am bi-amping with the tube amp. But that is easy to fix; just disconnect the tube amp and connect back the jumpers on the speaker jacks.
Also, according to this thread, those op amps in the 909 are not in the signal path (the technical discussion is way over my head):
