700i is only marginally better than the 600i

IF you have a big room, with appropriate speakers, and listen to music with true dynamics, the 700i will outperform a 600i. Not making any other changes, the 700i will give you better control and stability, with these LOUD swings.

In order to make an appreciable improvement over the 600i, we would have to go with the 740p preamp plus 760a power amp. That latter combination simply vanishes into thin air, leaving your sources and speakers to sort out the music. Users should also appreciate the 740p having a second balanced input.

One of my audiophile friends has the 740p. He was already quite happy with it. After reading professional reviews, he didn't think that the 820S outboard power supply would make much of a difference. But the 820S makes the 740p even more accurate, quiet, and sonically invisible.

I'm still working with two writing partners, on future posts about the 820S. One guy already has seen my coverage of the 820S on the 610LP and 740p. So he has been hounding me, about what an 820S does to a 750D CD player/DAC.

A nice factor about these Simaudio Evolution models is that they do not make noises, and do not give off heat. So in the long run, when owners think about why they no longer have audiophilia nervosa , Simaudio's lack of noise and heat is a major reason.
