Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

I picked up the amps yesterday

without a manual.

The older VTL amps don't have auto biasing. The previous MB-125 I sold years ago didn't have it and the MB-185 from the same era doesn't have it, either.

I believe the 125s used EL34s whereas the 185 uses 6550 so I didn't think the tube bias settings would be the same (not that I remember what the 125s were).

The amps in question are from 20 or so years ago so I figured VTL would have changed a few things along the way. I was hoping there were a few current owners of these older amps who might have the answer.

The amps came in yesterday and I was hoping to get an answer about the bias values before tomorrow, where I can call and ask Bea at VTL.

Unlike some manufacturers who maintain information, along with manuals, on their older gear VTL apparently does not (unless I kept missing the info the numerous times I looked at their site). And Google turned up absolutley nada pertaining to the original MB-185s, other than a few reviews and none listed the tube's bias numbers.
