...IMHO, it would behoove you to do some basic diagnostics. You have pre out/main in and three sets of outputs to speakers. I would start by using the out/in to isolate the problem to the amp section or preamp section. From there you can start getting into it a bit more.
Due to the age of the unit, and the nature of your inquiry, my sense is that it is better to send it to an expert like Audio Classics, but be prepared for additional issues and costs that are commonly associated with aging SS gear.
