I've heard some really expensive power conditioners detract from the quality of some really nice power amps by flattening the soundstage. Never heard one help a power amp.
Does the amp make mechanical hum or electrical hum? Mechanical hum through the air is poor/failing transformer. Electrical hum through the speakers is grounding issue; should not happen with balanced connections. Did it hum before you moved stuff around?
berate is 8 and benign is 9
