Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

I moved my music room around, placing the equipment behind and to the side of my listening chair from its original position between the loudspeakers. I have a PurePower 2000 that all equipment used to be plugged into; however, with the move of the equipment the amplifier (Marsh A400S) is located on the floor between the speakers, some 25 feet of balanced IC away from the rest of the equipment. And it's plugged directly into the wall.

I'm contemplating picking up a Pass XA30.5 at some point in the future, but am wondering if it would be better for me to invest in another power conditioner to use with the amp. I'm looking at a used Running Springs or PS Audio unit for this purpose.

Or, my second option would be to use a long, 20 feet power cable.

I've read that a power cable that long is not advisable. Plus, the price for something that long seems quite costly and it might not be much more, and possibly cheaper, to go with a used power conditioner.

So my question is this:

1) Should I look to pick up the amp and plug straight into the wall?

2) Should I look to picking up a power conditioner?

3) Should I look at picking up a long, quality (not necessarily audiophile) power cord?

Unfortunately, the room my stereo is in seems to have dirty power. It causes slight humming from the amp, even if it's plugged into the PurePower 2000. I've taken several amps that make noise in this room into another room in the house and they play dead quiet.

Suggestions?

Thank you,

Mamoru
