subwoofer when no line level outs

Getting a Krell Vanguard to replace mt old TACT. Want to subwoof my 15" Tannoys, but krell has no line out. It is claimed that if I run high level (speaker) outs to the subwoofers in parallel to my usual outs that this is safe and will not blow my amp.
