RE: Anyone experience getting over the power hump ?

Amps are rated into resistors with nice constant ratings and nice phase characteristics in relationship to voltage and current. Speakers are reactive. Voltage and current are often out of phase. Watts are volt amps. If these are out of phase you don't get full wattage.

Ad to that resistance varies in speakers and solid state power varies at different resistances so the rated power may not be the real power again.

And then there are occasional amps that have funny characteristics. I recall years ago a 100 watt tube amp that put out a rousing 2 watts at 20 kHz. And it was a very highly regarded amp at the time.

I could go on with dynamics. A 20 dB peak means if your average level need just 1 watt, the peak needs 100 watts(forgetting the load problems) and if you don't have the power for the peak you get clipping and possible momentary amp instability. Great reproduction isn't as simple as it seems.

I wouldn't use a 2 watt amp on Klipschorns. Actually Paul used to say what the world needed was a GOOD(my caps) 5 watt amp(at least) and few speakers need as little power as his speakers.

I always recall my good pal George Bischoff saying a good big un will beat a good little un every time. And his Melos triode monoblocks were rated at 400 watts and some versions would put out over 700 watts for a second or so. And by the way one of the virtues of triode output is its ability to handle reactive loads.
