Parts Express now sells ICE 50ASX2SE amplifier modules for $120. This amp has decent specs at rated power, and, more importantly, down to low levels of power where most listening is done. It has smooth FR, thorough protection, low heat output, a self-contained power supply, and is very compact. All you need is an enclosure, a power switch, and input/output connectors. For under $200, if you're frugal, you could have a decent little amp. I have no idea how it sounds, but ICE has been a popular format. Only drawback I can see is low input impedance, so you would need to carefully match a preamp or added volume control. If you're at all handy, this is probably a better gamble than any of the other cheap Class D amps. If you're really handy, you could add an input buffer powered by the on-board auxiliary unregulated +/-25V supply. Cool as ice. I might have to try one of these.
Peace,
