RE: All this talk about digital - how can I improve my source

Internet radio is great, but the quality is rarely better than 128 kbps lossy. I listen to the local classical station each morning in the office, but I would not be content with that for serious listening.

Tidal is by subscription and requires support by your device. By reading the manual, it appears your unit only supports Napster, Pandora and Rhapsody since Tidal wasn't available in 2010. You could, however, load the application on a PC and send the output to the NA7004 as DAC. The are two flavors: Premium using compressed MP3 for $10/month and HIFI using lossless CD quality FLAC for $20/month. They offer a free 30 day trial period for the Premium service to try out.

I run their PC based application for the in house system and my LMS based music server offers a plug in for support to feed streamers located upstairs and in the garage.

At any rate, the limiting factor in your situation is not taking advantage of higher quality digital streams and content. I've ripped all my CDs and have a lot of 96/24 (or better) content that I can play in any system.
