What I don't understand about the entire power cord thing is this. Your ENTIRE house is wired with 14-2 Romex cable...
That is the standard reaction along with the "miles and miles" from sub station canard. The power cord is the first meter , not the last. I heard this best explained years ago here by Ole Lund Christensen then of GamuT:
"One day it hit me hard, it does not make sense because I am asking the wrong question. "
I first learned this nearly twenty years ago when a reviewer friend got three Kimber Paladians for his system. And lent them to me for a weekend evaluation in my system. It is indeed difficult to imagine exactly what lies beyond one's exposure.
More recently, I read comments by John Swenson , the designer of both my microRendu player and the Uptone LPS-1 power supply about using star quad for the DC supply. While he said it sounded "much better", I had no idea what that meant. When I purchased some for myself, I found an improved rendition of microdynamics at the low end of the scale. That was also an inexpensive purchase.
ps: I use two dedicated 20A lines with 12 gauge wire for the listening room and specified the electrician use 12 gauge when he wired the garage audio system's outlet. :)
